Artist Statement
I was raised in a thunderous and colorful Cajun Family. I was often in trouble because of my extremely loud voice and overzealous personality. I soon discovered that quietly coloring in my small, designated area was a way to avoid such trouble. As I got older, I traded my colors for a paint brush and canvas. My designated area became a haven to release all my pent-up energy and endless mind chatter.
My colorful Cajun heritage is the main theme of my art. I use a vast array of colors and bright shiny movements to try and capture the nostalgia of the vital memories of my childhood and adult life i.e., fishing, hunting and exploration of the surrounding woods and places. I work with various acrylics, textured abstract techniques, and other multimedia trends. My art often imitates the serene scenes of the sea, as well as majestic beauty of wildlife. By using all the art tools in my toolbox, I hope to get one of those rare "A ha moments from my viewers.
